YOU can Make a Difference in a Child's Life!

Have you ever heard of Operation Smile? It is a non-profit organization that provides facial surgeries to children who have a cleft palate. It costs just $240 for one surgery. Check out these smiling children who have been blessed by a contribution. Aren't they awesome? Unfortunately, I am aware of too many of these situations where children want to be free of hardships based on their appearance and you can help!
If you are not aware, Close To My Heart is regularly donating to Operation Smile through the purchase of stamp sets and this month, through our "Share a Smile" special. You can also always make a donation through my website or by contacting me directly.

Allow me to share ways on how you can support this worthy cause:

Every time you place an order, you can round up to the nearest dollar (or higher), giving the extra as a donation to Operation Smile. During October, your round-up donation will go even further because Close To My Heart will be matching all round-up donations, up to $10,000! ($20,000 will provide for 83 surgeries!) The round-up option is provided upon checkout when placing an order through my website. Contact me with questions.

If $1,000 in donations/round-ups is submitted through my website before the end of the month, I will be entered in a drawing to serve Operation Smile on a future mission! That would be an awesome opportunity!

With the purchase of every "Punny Pals" stamp set, Close To My Heart will donate $7 of the proceeds to Operation Smile.
And, for this month only and while supplies last, you can get a coordinating set of Thin Cuts for cutting out the adorable animal shapes. Even better, Close To My Heart has designed an exclusive card kit that includes the Thin Cuts along with card bases, envelopes, paper pieces, and instructions that you can use to create these endearing cards that are sure to bring a smile to anyone's day.
Here is an image that includes the kit contents:

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Terrific Tags

Thank you for joining us this month as we feature artwork incorporating the use of "tags". You are bound to see some fun and creative ways they are used.

If you are coming from Wendy's Blog, you are on the right track. There is a complete list of participants if you were to get lost along the way.

Page 19 of the Holiday Expressions Idea Book served as my point of inspiration. Okay...so I like seriously almost copied it. LOL (Gotta love that you can do that and still call something "homemade".)
I changed out the patterned paper, stamp set and ribbon, used on the original card, and made a few minor adjustments. I appreciate that I was able to recreate such a beautiful card with just a few twists.

The stamp set used was "Inspired Words" and the rose texture provided on the White Daisy cardstock was created by using our Rose Embossing Folder, passing it through the Cuttlebug.

I love the striking simplicity of this card and hope you do too. Thank you so much for stopping by today. Next, head on over to Darlys's Blog to see what artwork she has created.

Happy hoppin'!

Christmas Tunes - Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to this month's blog hop where we are featuring the October Stamp of the Month, "Christmas Tunes". While valued at $17.95, you can get it - this month only - for $5; a great price! Details about that can be found on my website.
These fun and whimsical designs will be a great design to your holiday projects and you'll get to see a variety of ways they are incorporated as you move throughout this hop.

If you are coming from Melinda's Blog, you are on the right track. A complete list of participants can be found here.

I decided to step outside the box and incorporated some atypical Christmas colors. Of course, I had to go with my favorite color, purple. In CTMH colors this is Pansy. :)
I stamped the ornament, in Black Ink and on White Daisy cardstock, and used ShinHan Markers to color in the images. The outer edges of the ornament is colored in with Gold Metallic Marker
These elements were added for a 3-D touch: Clear Bitty Sparkles, White Dots and Gold Ribbon from the Basics Ribbon Pack

I hope you like what I shared with you. Now head on over to Cat's Blog to see what she has designed. I'm confident it's something totally fun!

Here's to a wonderful October and a great week ahead!

Holiday Expressions - New Product Blog Hop

I'm thrilled you have joined us for this Blog Hop as we showcase holiday-related artwork made using BRAND NEW PRODUCT from our Holiday Expressions Idea Book which released September 1st. There are fabulous product lines to include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year but with items that are versatile enough to be used otherwise.  (You can obtain a hard copy by placing an order on a Consultant's website or you can view a digital version by clicking on this link.)

If you are coming from Cat's Blog, you are on the right track. Should you get lost along the way, you can find a list of participants through this link.

Grab your favorite snack and relax in your comfy chair as you peruse the artwork we have to share with you. I'm excited to see it as well!

I decided to go a little non-traditional on this Christmas card, pulling products from one kit and adding in a couple of pieces of cardstock. I love the look of this color combination and hope you do too!
The patterned paper and stamp used in the background is from the Joyful Tidings Card Workshop Your Way (shown below). A couple of strips of Silver Glitter Paper, as well as some blue gems, were used to bling it up. (If you have never tried our Glitter Paper, it is a must! We have several colors to choose from and it's thick; not flimsy like others you may have seen elsewhere. Plus, the glitter stays on the paper for a quality look.)

The two colors of cardstock and coordinating inks used were Sapphire and Crystal Blue.

Thank you very much for stopping by today. Let me know what you think of my card and then head on over to Melinda's Blog to see what wonderful artwork she is sharing with you today.

Happy hoppin'!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge: Talk Like a Pirate Day

Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and we, at Heart 2 Heart, decided to focus on that as our theme this week. We hope you will join the fun!

Remember, you can interpret the theme as you choose, just be sure to use Close To My Heart products in your creation and then link up to H2H.

So...I have nothing in my product stash that lends itself to a "pirate" and needed to be creative in my artwork association. My first thought, when I think about pirates, is not fun and cheery one. However, I know you are bound to see some cute ones through what is shared through this challenge. However, I do think about the sea and decided to go with some product throwbacks with our Regata product line (now retired). I figure a "sweet" pirate may tell his significant other, "You keep me afloat". A bit of a stretch?! Argh! Work with me! LOL
This fun was card to put together with a soothing and positive message. It was kept pretty simple with the use of the patterned paper and just a few stamped images. It makes me happy...and makes me want to get to the beach! How 'bout you?!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Now, go to Heart 2 Heart and share your artwork. We love to see it!

Make it a great day!

CTMH Technique Blog Hop - Fabulous Foil

Welcome to this month's Technique Blog Hop, "Fabulous Foil", where participating Close To My Heart Consultants feature shiny artwork. I am excited to see what they share and hope you are too!

If you are coming from Cat's Blog, you are on the right track. You can find a list of participants at the bottom of this post, should you get lost along the way. Now...onto the fun!

Here is a sneak peek of my creation! Are those gold embossed leaves beautiful?! I love how simple it was to get this look so let's see what I did.
I used our Gold Foil Paper, which I absolutely love, and the Leaves Embossing Folder to create the primary background on this card. By sandwiching the piece of gold foil paper in between two 'C' plates, and running it through the Cuttlebug, this was the resulting look. So beautiful and simple!
Needing a fall-themed stamp set, I headed straight for this month's Stamp of the Month, "So Blessed". The images are stamped in Espresso and New England Ivy inks. I used a Sponge Dauber to distress the edges with Saffron ink. The heart was colored in with Ruby ink, applied with a Waterbrush Pen for a watercolor look.

If you haven't yet purchased our Foil Paper - in Silver or Gold, I strongly suggest you give at least one of them a try. It's such a great quality of cardstock - 10 lb. cover weight. It's definitely not a cheap paper! You will enjoy working with it, I promise! And...don't forget to choose an embossing folder. We have several that would look great embossed on foil.

Thank you very much for stopping by. Let me know what you think of my card by leaving a comment below and then head over to Janna's Blog to see what she has up her sleeve in the way of creativity.

Enjoy the hop and your day!

National Stamping Month Blog Hop

Welcome to our Blog Hop where we are highlighting National Stamping Monththe beautiful card kit, "From the Heart", and an exclusive stamp set made available by Close To My Heart this month.
You can get all of the "From the Heart" card kit contents at a 20% discount, with details provided here.
You can also elect to purchase the exclusive, E-size stamp set containing sentiments for the inside and outside of your cards. It also contains coordinating images for stamping floral scenes on cards and envelopes. I'm sure you can count on seeing some creative ways to use this stamp set so be sure to continue through the hop once you are done here.

If you are coming from Wendy Kessler's Blog, you are on the right track. If you were to get lost along the way, you can find a list of participants here.
I had fun creating this handmade card, realizing the best way to create the "bunch" of flowers - but hide the mess - is to 3-D a floral image. That's what I did here! I just started stamping leaves, branches and flowers, creating some type of arrangement, and this is how it turned out! I'm definitely not a florist and never have been in a previous life! LOL

I'm pleased with how this card turned out and used the two patterned papers from our Cats & Bats, Halloween pack. Who would have guessed, huh?! They are two of my favorite patterns from the Holiday Expressions. They added some fun to this card and I hope you like it.

Ink colors used: Blossom, Eggplant, Emerald, Lemon, Pansy, Raspberry, Sweet Leaf

Next up is Brenda Lapp's Blog. Head on over there to check out her artwork.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy the rest of your week and happy hoppin'!

Remembering 9/11

I still remember where I was the moment a colleague came into my classroom and told me to turn my tv to CNN as we saw a fiery hole in one of the Twin Towers. At first, we thought it was an unfortunate accident until...a plane hit the second tower. Fear and confusion were my first reactions until more was known and then, reality set in. The loss of many lives would soon be known and our country would be changed forever.
I had the recent pleasure of viewing the beautiful New York City skyline which now holds the Memorial Tower in honor of all those whose lives were lost that day. While I didn't know any of them, I still mourn them and all they experienced that day - whether emergency personnel or innocent individuals.

I pray for the family members who live their lives without their loved ones; those who perished on 9.11.2011. I will never forget...

God bless America!
